2009 SEASON
What a Year it was!

Well......2009 was a great year for the females of Runaway Bay Soccer Club, 3 out of 4 teams finished in the top 4, our 17s finishing in 5th... and from this 2 successful Grand Finalists

Firstly Gold Coast Soccer implemented the "Girls Junior" League, this meant there was an opportunity for us to field teams in U11, U13, U15 and U17....

As a Club we managed to field a team both in U13s and U17s, the U13s were made up of 10, 11 and 12 year olds, and I was lucky to coach them.

Girls U13 Div 2

Wow, what a year for these girls, we started the season we a full squad of 16 players, and ½ way through a couple dwindled away, but then we were lucky enough to recruit a Goal Keeper (Natasha), and Kalinda joined us from the boys team...  For a team that had ½ brand new players we blended together exceptionally well, and there was great morale, we had some wins, some draws and some losses.. Our thorn in our side was Robina who was holding the ladder in first position all year.  We finished the season in 2nd place, and I can't be more proud of the girls, we played our semi against Robina, and played 150% to end up in extra time going down 2-1, we were unlucky enough to bow out to Southport in the finals 3-2........ The girls did themselves proud and are a side to be reckoned with..

Well done... Paige, Tyla, Bec, Steph, Philippa, Rachel, Amy, Kiara, Taylor, Kalinda, Natasha, Gabby, Jaimee-Leigh, Rhegan and Chelsea

Girls U17

This team was again made up of new players to soccer, girls who had been playing with the boys, and girls from the Ladies Div 1 team.... again these girls should be very proud of their efforts, they started the season strong, and were close in quite a few games with a few of the top teams, and as they ended the season there were a couple of serious injuries which hampered their chances of making the top 4

Well done to all the girls, Danny the Coach and Wes the Manager, what a super effort this team has done

Ladies Div 3

Well what can I say these Ladies played their hearts on their sleeve every single game, and were rewarded with the Minor Premiership, then to top it all off they won the Grand Final in an extremely close Penalty Shoot Out 9-8......

As captain of this team, I would like to say thank you to all the players, we started like a team, we played like a team and we WON like a team....your girls rock...

Ladies Div1

Well congratulations go out to these ladies also.... for coming home with the Grand Final in again a very close finish, with yet another penalty shootout..

The girls were juggling all season with the top 2 positions on the ladder with Robina, and were lucky enough to end in 2nd place, but then came back to take the Grand Final from Robina

I was lucky enough to play a couple of games with these girls, and there is lot of quality with 2 players representing the Gold Coast open Women's Team through year...

Congratulations girls on such a successful season, and a big thankyou to Mandy, Kellie and Eve !!!!!!

We made such a great impression that I look forward to seeing all current players and lots of new players next year for another successful season
