Three Cheers for the Ref - All Age Groups
As many of the players and parents of players in divisional teams would have noticed, in recent years there has been a shortage of official referees. This has been attributed, in part, to player and spectator attitudes. Our club has always promoted fair play and sportsmanship and it is felt that we should not only encourage support for referees, but also recognise their contribution to this great game. This is regardless of whether they are an official referee at a divisional game or your own or visiting team's parent officiating at a Rooball game.
To address this, the club wishes to introduce in 2008 "three cheers for the ref". This applies to all teams (including the opposing team's players) at the conclusion of games. This initiative is to foster a positive attitude towards the match officials from the ground level up from an early age, as well as encouragement for those that may wish to dedicate their valuable time to officiate. The club therefore requests all team officials, parents and players to support this initiative.
BREACHES TO THE CODE OF CONDUCT
Powers of the Grounds Official
We are proud of the fact that in recent times no major disruptive incidents have occurred at our grounds. Each match day at all home and away games you will see an official wearing a yellow/orange luminous jacket with the words GROUND OFFICIAL on the back.
In the event of any off-field incident you should request the Ground Official to intervene. Under no circumstances should you take matters into your own hands either by an action or word of mouth.
The Referee is the sole match arbiter and nothing should be done by word of mouth or action that interferes with the Referee's control and jurisdiction of the game. The Grounds Official has the right to request for your to leave the grounds if you breach the code of conduct.
If you wish to lodge a complaint concerning a breach of the code by others at any venue or ground, you must do so in writing and address the complaint to:
The Chairman
